You Lookin' At Me?

I realized something which bothered me just about as much as the naked racism in Ann Coulter's CPAC speech:

"I think our motto should be post-9-11, 'raghead talks tough, raghead faces consequences.'" (This declaration prompted a boisterous ovation.)

"Raghead talks tough, raghead faces consequences"?  Think about that for a second.  Coulter isn't just advocating in a particularly crude and Republican way a forceful response to actual acts committed against citizens the United States.  She's advocating in a particularly crude and Republican way a response (presumably military or otherwise violent) to words. 

This is of course entirely consistent with the Republican attack on dissent within the United States, but it tells us a great deal about the Republican movement that Coulter is advocating (to applause from a Republican crowd) that the United States put a boot on the neck of Muslims who aren't sufficiently obsequious.
